A battle for victory

SMCC won off the last ball for the second time this season.

After being put into bat on a lovely sunny day where, as ever the ground looked outstanding. James Kutchera (45) anchored the first half of the innings ending up falling just short of his 50, a late flurry by Matt Goodwin (56) in a role he is now taking into his own took the score to a competitive 185.

Oaksey started their innings well and were probably the favourites for 35 of the 40 overs, the runs were coming too easily, but we kept raking wickets (despite some dropped catches!) with Harry Stevens the pick of the bowlers getting 4-54.

Some good death bowling by Andy Pegg and Ollie Moore meant Oaksey fell 2 runs short needing 35 off the last 10 overs.

The death batting and bowling is what made us get over the line, the full scorecard is available here: http://sherstonmagna.play-cricket.com/website/results/2433369

Next week Avening and Cherrington who are top of the league…
