After gearing up for our big top of the table clash against Erlstoke last week which was canceled due to the rain, we managed to get a full game in against Goatacre 3rds.
On an extremely green top, JK won the toss and decided to have a bat. James Harmer (39) and Chris Fisk (33) walked to the crease, after an indifferent start from their opening bowler (after no-balls and wides we were 5-0 after 0.0 overs…) the openers knuckled down and got us off to a good start after some slight disagreements between the fielders and umpires.
The real class of Sherston batting came from the youth or Archie Walsh (67) and Lorcan Purser (59) who put on a 100 partnership in more than a run a ball. A quick fire 20 off of 8 balls from JK led us to an impressive 284-7 from our 50 overs.
We welcomed Andy Pegg back from missing the last few games due to injury and it paid off in his 3rd overtaking 3 wickets in 4 balls (no hat-trick again…), he bowled his 9 overs all the way through getting his 5th wicket with his last ball.
JK chipped in with another couple of wickets meaning he is leading the bowling award by 1 wicket after being in second place for all of 10 minutes. Then a genius bowling change brought Chris Lovell to the crease, who took 3 wickets for 0 runs to finish the innings off.
A very impressive batting and bowling performance all round from the Magna with 9 of the 10 wickets being bowled.
