A good team performance

On a very sticky wicket JK lost the toss (as expected) and Sherston were put into bat. George and Iggy battled through the first few overs frustrating the opposition (and some teammates at times!),but the wicket started drying out and we got to 79-0 after 20 overs. George and Iggy then started to turn the screw and the run-rate started to increase, and we reached a very impressive opening partnership of 133 before the first wicket fell, George was caught out on 71. In came JK with a quick fire 40, and not long after Iggy was also out (to a rank ball) on 63. The wickets started to fall a bit quicker with batsmen trying to hit from ball one. Sherston finished the innings on 235-7 which was a brilliant score on that wicket and seemed like it would be enough.

Andy and Dave opened the bowling and dug in with no avail for a while, Andy not helping Dave out by dropping a loopy chance at first slip (I blame the skipper for putting him there!). Dave bowled some tight lines and eventually removed their 2 openers and bowled through his 9 overs ending with figures of 2-34. Tetbury’s batting was falling away and George took great advantage of this and got figures of 4-8 from 7 overs. JK himself came on (from the other end) and carried on his bowling performance from the previous game against Tetbury with figures of 2-1 from 2 overs. Archie and Charlie both chipped in with a wicket each to finish the game and Tetbury were all out for 79.

All in all, a very good team performance with lots of positives and very few things done wrong in the whole day. On to South Cerney away next week!
