Chairman’s Column Spring 2016

The season will start tinged with sadness because as I am sure most of you are aware Neil Forster our club President sadly lost his long fight against cancer at the end of February. Neil had been an integral part of the club for many years. He will be remembered differently by members as a player, captain, coach, President but most defiantly as a friend to all.

The season though will soon be on us and it promises to be a good one with SMCC having over 70 games to be played across the club. We will be fielding U9, U11, U13, Saturday league and Sunday friendly teams.

At the recent AGM, more detail elsewhere in the Magna Magic, two committee members stood down. I would just like to express my personal appreciation to Paul Jarvis and Chris Lovell for all the hard, much unsung, work they have both done for the club. I hope that both will still be part of the club as other commitments allow.

With such a busy summer ahead there is always lots of work to be done. If anybody feels they can help in any capacity please contact me or any of the other committee members?

But for now it just leaves me to wish all members a fun, successful and hopefully dry summer

John Mathews
SMCC Chairman
