The cricket season for Sherston Magna CC officially started on Sunday 23rd April at Pinkney Park. In conditions that were more akin to August then April, SMCC took on UBSCC who were at the end of their preseason tour and included two Sherston locals in Denise and Paul Powell. Sherston bowled first and apart from the odd preseason “rusty delivery”, bowled extremely tidily restricting the opposition to under 160. Sherstons reply started strongly with both openers Kenny and Bruce delivering some lusty blows. Unfortunately, after their departure the scoring slowed and the regular loss of wickets ended up with UBSCC winning comfortably. But thanks to all the regulars and not so regulars for making themselves available on a lovely day for cricket.
