A trip to Bathford on Saturday, 6th July marked the halfway point in the 2019 season for Sherston Magna.
With Captain Kutchera losing the toss it appeared like Sherston could be sent into bat on a wicket that looked like it could cause some trouble however despite being bowled out for 48, and losing by 10 wickets, at the start of the season the brave decision by the Bathford captain was to bat first.
Sherston took to the field and quickly Pegg picked up where he left off from the first game of the season against Bathford (7.5-4-5-6) and after his first spell had 9 wickets for 9 runs across the two games. Sherston continued to take wickets with contributions from Hulance, Walsh and Allman, with
Dickenson picking up 3 wickets for 4 runs to clean up the tail. Bathford finished with 146 with only one considerable partnership of 47.
Sherston felt confident that 146 was within their capabilities of chasing down. The opening partnership of Harmer and Fitch-Peyton, however, was broken early with the latter departing for 4 runs. Harmer fell not to long after for 35 with Dickenson to follow shortly for 12.
At 56-3 Sherston looked like they could slip into some trouble however some excellent batting from Hall and Walsh putting on a partnership of 96 meant Sherston won comfortably by 7 wickets. Hall finished on 40* from 51 balls and Walsh on 53* from 22 balls, hitting 8 fours and 3 sixes.
Another win for Sherston Magna setting them up nicely to challenge for promotion in the closing games of the season.
