A well battled performance by the team unfortunately led to a third loss on the trot.
After winning the toss and putting Adlestrop into bat, we started well with Adlestrop 0-1 off 4 overs! But the combination of some untidy bowling, poor fielding and good batting meant that Aldestrop ended up on 222-3 off of their 40 overs, with Simon Hulance’s bowling standing out with figures of 1-21 off 7 overs.
Chasing down 222 is no easy task and Sherston needed to get off to a good start, but this was not the case with the wicket of Chris Lovell falling first ball of the innings. That brought Will Matthews to the crease who was under some pressure after scoring 188 in his previous innings! (https://sherstonmagnacc.co.uk/a-mighty-win-for-the-mighty-magna) Will and Andy Jarvis batted well and put 143 on for their wicket which led Sherston within touching distance of what would have been a very good win. But with the pressure of needing to score quick runs by new batsmen meant we ended up on 208-5, just 14 runs short.
It was a good performance in places, we just needed to cut out a few of the bad overs and the result could have been very different! This is what we need to do next week against Oaksey.
